Photography Policy

Please be aware that by attending any Festival of Making CIC event, you acknowledge that your photograph or video footage may be taken, and that Festival of Making CIC, its partners, stakeholders and funders may use this material in any media, including websites, social media, press, and advertising, without compensation.

Press photographers, the organisation’s official photographers or staff members may take photographs or record video at our events. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform a member of staff or an official photographer at any time during the event, and we will take reasonable steps to avoid capturing your image.

You may request the removal of any images of you from our cloud-based photography storage systems at any time.

Images may appear on our website, social media channels, email newsletters, printed promotional materials (including leaflets, publications, posters, and adverts), in media coverage, or in reports to funding bodies. We will not publish or share personal contact details (email, postal addresses, or phone numbers). Please note that our website may be accessed globally, not just in the United Kingdom, where UK law applies.

Important information to share:

  • No identifiable names of children or young people will be published alongside photographs unless explicit written consent has been obtained from a parent or guardian.
  • Photographs taken during education sessions will always comply with the photography policy of the relevant school or young-person provider. In all such cases, their policy takes precedence over this one.
  • We may also share photographic and video content with collaborators, including artists, contributors, venues participating in our programmes, and funders who support our work, for use in promoting their involvement with Festival of Making CIC or their own activities and promoting their own work in the future.

If you do not wish for your image, or the image of a child or person in your care, to be captured, please speak to the photographer or filmmaker at the event or contact us at info@festivalofmaking.co.uk.
